Ys Seven and Ys Chronicles

More RPGs are coming our way. After teasing everyone about a couple of new Ys games at the Ys Fair, the publisher confirmed earlier today that Ys Seven and Ys I & II Chronicles are both coming to PSP later this year. Ys Seven will be the first main entry title in the series after Ys 6 for the PC in 2003. Not much information has been given at this point but apparently the simple and satisfying battle system will be improved, battle fields expanded, more variety attacks and to feature the series’ best music. Finally, “Party Play” will be introduced to the series for the first time but no further information was given. Multi-player maybe? Ys Seven is scheduled for September release in Japan. On the other hand, Ys I & II Chronicles will be a remake of the 2001 PC game Ys I II Complete Version with “new graphics” and “rearranged BGM”. The game will be out in Japan this July. Falcom has been pretty amazing with their RPG support on the PSP (Brandish: The Dark Revenant just came out this week in Japan), although most of them are ports but the Sora no Kiseki trilogy have been doing extremely well for them.

Capcom releasing more PSOne titles on PS Store

Sure, they're getting a lot of flak about their supposed nickel-and-diming ways right now, but Capcom has some pretty good news for PS3 and PSP owners who still love playing through old PSOne games.

According to a post by Capcom coprorate officer Christian Svensson, the company has already submitted "the first PS1 titles for PSN" last week. Capcom's John Diamonon said late last year that 2009 will see "a whole slew of downloadable PSP and PSone titles " from the Capcom vault. I guess this is the start.

No dates or other further details yet, but note that it's "titles", as in plural. Man, I hope Breath of FIre 4 is in there somewhere. Even better if it's an uncensored version! What about you guys? What classic Capcom games do you want to see on the PlayStation Store?

What Capcom game would you like to see? Before you answer peruse the list of PsOne games published by Capcom and rated by the ESRB. And then cross out all the games that have X-Men, Marvel, and Mickey in them.

PS3 cuts price

You've probably heard of this supposed PS3 price cut just about a bazillion times from people who want it, say it's coming and even from people who don't think it's going to work . So, it shouldn't be too surprising to hear that there's even more on this ongoing rumor. The latest involves a "major UK high street retailer" speaking to CVGabout the PS3 price drop and -- get this -- a PSP price slash, too. The unnamed retailer says both cuts are "definitely coming soon" but were unable to give specifics.

Yesterday, we broke the news that a New PS3 SKU will be available by the end of the month; however, unfortunately, there is no price drop included with this new bundle. This means that the British retailer could be referring to a Europe-only drop or their definition of 'soon' might be much further off. Most analysts expect a price cut to hit sometime around June-- E3 time.

PSP2 coming!!!

February 13, 2009 - You know it, Nate Ahearn knows it, and the entire IGN community knows it -- the PSP2 is coming. Sure, all we have to go on is the errant rumor and the fact that every PSP redesign sells like hotcakes, but there's no doubt that the PSP2 is coming. It might have a touch screen, a hard drive, or some kind of teleportation device, but it's definitely coming.

The question is: when is it coming?

It's a simple question and a lot of Sony fans would probably want it as soon as possible, but this query has kicked up some dust here in the IGN office and divided the PlayStation Team. On one side is Greg Miller, editor. He says Sony needs to hold its horses and not announce or release the PSP2 for quite sometime. On the other side of that decisive line is Chris Roper, editor-in-chief. He says Sony needs to let the world know about its newest, portable baby as soon as possible.

Below, the two gentlemen will present their cases and try to settle this with words and not UMDs to the face. We're asking you to step in, read the cases, and declare a victor in the comment section below. It's up to you, young reader, to bring peace to our land.
